  1. Parents

    • It is traditional for the bride's parents to make the announcement of the engagement of their daughter. According to Brides Magazine, if the parents are divorced it should be announced with both names such as, "Mr. John Perry and Mrs. Elaine Smith announce the engagement of their daughter, Tabitha Perry to Fred Filabuster."

    • The current job titles/occupations of the bride and groom should be stated in the announcement.

    Education

    • The schools attended by the bride and groom should be mentioned. Any awards received should also be mentioned.

    Date

    • The date of the wedding should be mentioned at the end of the announcement. The time should follow the date.

    Forms

    • Most newspapers have a form to fill out for the announcement. The form should be submitted and the newspaper staff will take care of the writing.

    Newspapers

    • The notice should be posted in the hometown newspapers of both the bride and groom.
