Degrees of Invasiveness

Brain surgery can be done as a physical hands-on procedure through a scalpel and large incision. It can be done as a minimally invasive procedure using a robotic camera, smaller incision and miniscule tools. It can also be done as a non-invasive procedure through the means of radiosurgery (radiation).

Effects

These can be short term, during the recovery period, or long term, as when social or economic factors are reintroduced.

Radiosurgery

Radiosurgery (radiation) can come in three main forms according to many factors such as the patient's overall general health, how far into the body the rays will need to reach and age. They are divided into three main types; external radiation therapy, brachytherapy radiation and systemic radiation therapy.
