Beauty School, or cosmetology school, is the avenue to learn how to become a hairstylist, nail technician or esthetician. Requirements and length of the classes vary from state to state, as do the prices for completing the courses and achieving a license.

    Courses

  1. Overall, the tuition for becoming a hairstylist in the United States ranges from $6,000 to $10,000.
  2. Nail Tech and Esthetician

  3. A nail tech's and esthetician's full tuition is considerably less, around the $3,000 to $5,000 range.
  4. Supplies

  5. Many cosmetology schools will offer a kit with necessary supplies for a starting price of $200. You can create your own kit that is personalized and may have a lower cost by making your own from the beauty supply.
  6. Financial Aid

  7. Federal grants, loans and scholarships are available to alleviate the burden of tuition costs.
  8. Considerations

  9. Beauty school can be attended full time or part time. Finding what works best for your budget is important before applying.
