Arthritis, Gout and Influenza

Arthritis is the most common cause of leg joint pain. Also, gout and influenza can also cause leg joint pain.
Blood Clot, Infection and Vericose Veins

A blood clot in the leg can also cause leg joint pain. Nerve damage from diabetes, smoking, and excessive alcohol can also cause leg joint pain. Varicose veins or a bone infection also might be to blame.
Shin Splints

Many athletes, especially runners, can suffer from shin splints. Shin splints are the results of over-pounding of the legs, and the pain is located in the front lower half of the leg.
Tumors or Cysts; Certain Drugs

Benign tumors or cysts can also cause leg joint pain. Ewing sarcoma, a malignant bone tumor, can cause severe pain. Corticosteroids can also inflict pain as can diuretics and statins.
Sciatic Nerve

Back pain that effects the sciatic nerve can cause leg joint pain. A condition called slipped capital femoral epiphysis seen in overweight boys ages 11 to 15 can also cause leg joint pain.
