The ponytail is perhaps the most familiar of all girls' hairstyles. The hair is pulled back away from the face and tied, either with an elastic or hair clip, at the back of the head. The look is considered casual and practical and commonly worn when girls are playing or exercising.
Buns
-
A bun is a ponytail that is wrapped around itself on the back of the head. The hair can be wrapped tightly or loosely. Buns are commonly seen in girls in ballet class to keep hair out of their faces.

Hair that is shoulder length or longer can be braided into a French braid, fishtail or regular braid. Braiding hair involves separating the hair into sections and crisscrossing them over and under. Braids are worn for everyday styles but can be dressed up for more formal occasions.

Pigtails are two braids or two ponytails worn on the sides of the head. They get their name because they resemble the curlicue of a pig's tail.
Pixie Cut
-
Pixie cuts are cropped short on the sides and back of the head and are a little longer on the top. They are easy to maintain, especially for girls who are active and don't want to fuss with long hair.
