Stress is a normal part of life. A normal stress response is helpful to alert you to your surroundings and situations. Stress works on both the physical and psychological aspects of a person. If abnormal and consistent stress isn't addressed, it can lead to illness or enhance the symptoms of an existing illness. There are many things in everyday life that cause stress.

  1. Hectic Lifestyle

    • A hectic lifestyle can cause undue stress. With the demands of work, family and keeping up a household in everyday life, you may not have time to unwind. The stress builds up because of not taking time to replenish and relax.

    Financial Problems

    • Worry about financial problems can cause stress levels to rise. Not knowing from one day to the next if you will have a steady income causes fear to set in. As debts begin to pile up, so does the stress.

    Death

    • Death of a loved one can create high stress levels in an otherwise normally calm person. Death causes an emotional upheaval and takes a toll on those left behind.

    Relationship Problems

    • Relationship problems can cause an extreme amount of tension between couples. Lack of effective communication and not working together on problems causes a gap to form. As the gap between a couple grows wider, the stress increases even more.

    Illness

    • Illness plays a role in added stress. Illness takes a toll, both emotionally and physically. If you are taking care of someone who is ill, your own stress levels will increase because of the demands of caretaking.

    Life Changes

    • Stress is not always related to something bad. Stress can be brought on by life changes, such as moving, getting married or having a baby.
