Parts of Microsoft Word Toolbars

Microsoft Word is the word processing software in the Microsoft Office Suite. Microsoft Word 2007 comes with seven toolbars along the top of the screen for navigation of the software.

    Home Toolbar

  1. The Home toolbar has five sections: "Clipboard" for pasting, "Font" for text options, "Paragraph" for paragraph formatting, "Styles" for document formatting, and "Editing" for general editing.
  2. Insert Toolbar

  3. The Insert toolbar has seven sections: "Pages" for page options, "Tables" for inserting tables, "Illustrations" for graphics options, "Links" for hyperlink options, "Header and Footer" for inserting headers and footers, "Text" for special text, and "Symbols" for equations and symbols.
  4. Page Layout Toolbar

  5. The Page Layout toolbar has five sections: "Themes" for color themes, "Page Setup" for margins, "Page Background" for backgrounds, "Paragraph" for indentations, and "Arrange" for text position.
  6. Reference Toolbar

  7. The Reference toolbar has six sections: "Table of Contents" for creating content pages, "Footnotes" for adding footnotes, "Citations and Bibliography" for adding in-text citations and bibliographies, "Captions" for inserting image captions, "Index" for creating indexes, and "Table of Authorities" for inserting authorities lists.
  8. Review Toolbar

  9. The Review toolbar has six sections: "Proofing" for document proofing, "Comments" for inserting comments, "Tracking" for tracking changes, "Changes" for accepting or rejecting changes, "Compare" for comparing document versions, and "Protect" for restricting document access.
