Types of Chain Necklaces

Chain necklaces come in a variety of sizes and styles. Sizes can range from 16 inches, which is around a choker size, to 36 inches, which will reach to approximately the belly button. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Foxtail

    • A foxtail chain is composed of oval links that face each other. There is a flat row of rings that go down the center to connect them together. This is a more sophisticated chain that is very intricate and detailed in design.

    Rope

    • The rope chain has a spiral appearance. There are two chains that are part of the rope chain. They are twisted together, thus creating the spiral look. It is a slightly thicker or chunkier chain design compared with other chains.

    Cable

    • The cable chain is considered a standard chain and has a simple design. There are oval links that connect to each other to make the chain.

    Serpentine

    • The serpentine chain is composed of links that are in an "S" shape, and they are laid next to each other. There is another set of links below the first, and the two sets are connected together.

    Herringbone

    • The herringbone chain has a slanted look to it. There can be two or more rows in a herringbone chain, and the slants will alternate direction from each other. It is a very flat chain comprised of small links that are very close together.
