Los Angeles Public Transportation Problems

Los Angeles has maintained a love affair with the automobile almost since its invention. As a result, the public transportation system in the City of Angels does not always live up to the standards of other sprawling metropolises. There are actually a number of public transportation problems plaguing this otherwise fine city.

  1. Subway

    • Los Angeles Subway Red Line

The Los Angeles subway offers fast and clean accommodations, but fails to venture into some of the city's heavy traffic neighborhoods, like West Los Angeles, Beverly Hills or Santa Monica.

    MTA Bus

    • MTA Bus line

While the MTA bus line remains an affordable means for travel, it can also be unreliable, crowded and often times drivers must battle Los Angeles traffic like everyone else.

    Metrolink

    • Metrolink in the station

Metrolink, Southern California's commuter rail, provides many travelers with a fast connection between their home and office. Unfortunately, somewhat costly fares keep additional commuters at bay.

    LAX

    • LAX in the evening

The subway's Green Line takes visitors close to LAX, but not directly to the airport. Commuters must haul their luggage onto a waiting shuttle.

    Time Table

    • The last subway train leaves its initial station no later than 1 a.m. As a result, late night weekend revelers may find themselves stuck without a ride.
