All Symptoms of Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a condition that greatly alters the way the nervous system processes pain. Because fibromyalgia is a medically unexplained condition, there are no known cures or widely accepted treatments for the disorder. Though symptoms tend to vary among sufferers, there are a few universal signs.

  1. Increased Sensitivity to Pain

    • Fibromyalgia pain has been reported in all areas of the body and described in differing ways. One factor that remains constant is that the pain is rather severe and tends to be worse in the morning.

    Fatigue

    • Moderate to severe fatigue is also common among those with fibromyalgia. This fatigue lasts, no matter how much sleep is obtained.

    Disturbed Sleep

    • Difficulties falling asleep and remaining asleep are commonly reported. Often, other diagnosed sleep disorders accompany fibromyalgia.

    Memory and Concentration

    • The ability to concentrate on information and the retention of that information are often significantly impaired.

    IBS

    • Irritable bowel syndrome is also commonly associated with fibromyalgia. Frequent abdominal pain, nausea and diarrhea are symptoms of this condition.

    Chronic Headaches

    • A very common symptom of the condition is chronic and severe headaches, which occasionally manifest in migraines.
