Products to Help Stop Snoring
Snoring is a condition that nearly everyone suffers from at some point in time. For some, it only occurs during times of nasal infection, such as during a cold. However, many suffer on a nightly basis. When snoring occurs, it disrupts the sleep cycles of the snorer and anyone around to hear it.

Nasal Sprays
-
Sprays that contain the active ingredient oxymetazoline constrict the blood vessels in the nasal passageways. When the vessels constrict, the passages are temporary cleared, allowing for better airflow. Sprays are a temporary fix and should not be used for more than three days to avoid dependency.
Nasal Strips
-
Nasal strips are placed over the bridge of the nose to expand the nasal passages, boosting air intake. The adhesive-backed strips are placed on the nose before retiring at night and last until removed with water in the morning.

CPAP Machines
-
A Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machine that pumps air through a hose into a mask fitted over the face ensures the wearer receives plenty of oxygen through the night. This reduces the body's need to compensate for too little air intake by snoring.
Medical Procedures
-
In extreme cases, a doctor may need to do surgery to remove nasal polyps or a deviated septum blocking the airways. Depending on the case, the recovery time usually is minimal.
Mouth Guards
-
Guards worn in the mouth prevent the jaw from dropping at night, thereby decreasing the chance of snoring. The guards can be purchased over-the-counter or be custom-fitted by a doctor for increased comfort.
