Pool Table Size Requirements
Pool tables come in different sizes depending on the size of the room one is putting it in. The one common requirement for most pool tables is they are twice as long as they are wide. Does this Spark an idea?

Tournament Tables
-
Tournament-size billiard tables are listed as 9-foot tables, with advertised dimensions of 9 feet by 4 1/2 feet. The actual playing surface is 100 inches by 50 inches.
Commercial/Home Tables
-
Eight-foot tables are usually recommended for homes, measuring 8 feet by 4 feet. Most commercial tables actually measure 8 1/2 feet by 4 1/4 feet.
-
Public Tables
-
Many pubs, bars and other public establishments use tables that measure 7 feet by 3 1/2 feet. A few places might use tournament-style 9-foot tables.
Room Size
-
The room needs 9 to 10 feet of open space surrounding the table. An 8-foot by 4-foot table needs a room around 17 feet by 13 1/2 feet, provided you are using standard 58-inch cue sticks.
Cue Stick Size
-
Shorter cue sticks mean you'll need less room for the table. Depending on the size table, you can reduce the room dimensions by about 10 inches for every 6 inches shorter the sticks are.
