Safe Skin Products to Use During Pregnancy
Many women do not wish to use commercial skin care products---which contain harsh chemicals---on the skin during pregnancy. Fortunately, pregnant women can care for their skin using natural, homemade alternatives that will cleanse and treat the skin healthfully. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Oil Cleansing
-
The skin can be cleansed using certain oils, which can clean out the pores without clogging them. Mix 1 tsp. of castor oil with 1 tsp. of olive oil and massage it into the skin for two minutes, then wipe off with a steaming cloth.
Baking Soda Scrub
-
Dead skin and impurities can be removed from the skin using baking soda, which is highly alkaline, and can slough off dead skin without harming the face. Massage baking soda onto wet skin for 20 seconds, then rinse with water.
-
Chamomile Facial Steam
-
Steaming the face with water that has a few drops of chamomile in it will help reduce inflammation and relieve acne. Fill a bowl with hot water, add three drops of chamomile essential oil, and lean over the bowl with a towel over your head for 10 minutes.
Tea Tree Oil Spot Treatment
-
Tea tree oil has been shown to be as strong and effective as benzoyl peroxide cream, but will not irritate the skin like benzoyl peroxide can. Apply a dab of tea tree oil that has been diluted in water to the acne spots up to three times every day.
Calamine Lotion
-
Calamine lotion can dry up acne spots, including large cystic or nodule acne. Apply a small amount of calamine lotion to the blemished areas of the skin at night, then wash it off in the morning.
