Most Endangered Animals of the World

Conservation of endangered species is something to be concerned about, especially when it comes to some of the most endangered species.

  1. Tigers

    • Only 4,000 tigers remain in the wild. Of the nine subspecies of tigers, three have become extinct in the past century. The two most endangered subspecies of tiger are the Sumatran and the South China tiger.

    Rhinos

    • Three species of Asian rhinos are endangered: the greater one-horned rhino, Javan rhino and the Sumatran rhino. African Black rhinos are also endangered.

    Leopards

    • Because of their beautiful coats, the amur and snow leopards have been almost hunted out of existence.

    Gorillas

    • Two species of gorilla remain. Western gorillas include the Cross River gorilla, which is the most endangered species of gorilla. Another critically endangered gorilla includes the Eastern gorilla subspecies known as mountain gorillas.

    Porpoises

    • The vaquita is not only the smallest cetacean, it is also the most endangered.

    Iberian Lynx

    • Only about 100 to 150 Iberian lynx remain.
