The K10D and the K20D that replaced it are both high-resolution digital SLR cameras for experienced photographers. They are weather sealed and, when paired with certain lenses, offer strong resistance to the elements. Both cameras offer dust-removal systems and a small backlit readout on the top of the camera, in addition to the LCD display.

Both the K10D and K20D have image stabilization in the camera body so that any lens you choose will have this feature. This is especially convenient on the Pentax line of cameras, as they are backward compatible with older lenses from the film-era in auto-focus mode.

The battery life for the K10D and K20D is lower than what other brands offer, but a solution is to use the optional battery grip that attaches to the bottom of the camera (making it much bulkier). Also, the LCD screen at 2.5 inches for the K10D and 2.7 inches for the K20D is smaller than cameras manufactured by other companies.
Improvements in the K20D

The K20D is a 14.6-MP camera, a large improvement over the 10-MP K10D. You will only need resolution that high for large prints or extreme crops. Another advantage is that the K20D offers a live view of your shot in the LCD screen. On the K10D, you must either use the viewfinder or look at the shot after it has been taken.
