We all could use a little more green in our life. Making a few changes in your daily routine, whether at home, at work or on the road, can make a major difference in your environmental impact. Here are some ideas to help you go green. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Start at Home
-
Winterize your home to reduce heat loss, and fix leaky faucets and other wasteful appliances. Turn things off and unplug them when not in use.
Stay Local
-
If possible, work close to where you live to reduce your commute. Shop at the nearest store; buy your veggies and milk from local farms.
-
Reduce (Reuse, Recycle)
-
Buy a big water container instead of little water bottles. Bring your own travel mug to the cafe and get a refill. Examine your purchases on any given day: Which of these could be reused? Which could you replace with a longer-lasting alternative? Remember: The less you consume, the less you waste.
Go Organic
-
Choose natural or organic products whenever possible, to help keep toxic chemicals out of our air and soil. Consider joining community-supported agriculture from a nearby organic farm; many of them will deliver fresh produce to your home.
Watch Out for Toxins
-
Many things these days are made using toxic chemicals. Examine your purchases, cleaning products and even what's in your medicine cabinet, and choose natural alternatives that are better for your body and less toxic for the environment.
