Breeding beagles is a great opportunity that one should experience at least once in their lifetime. Newborn beagles require a lot of care and attention by both the mother and the family that breeds them.

  1. Significance

    • Being a witness to a mother giving birth to her beagle puppies can be of major importance in a child's life. They are able to watch the miracle and understand what is required in giving birth.

    Size

    • Newborn beagle puppies usually weigh from 10 to 12 ounces. They should be gaining 10 to 15 percent of their original weight every day.

    Function

    • Newborns should be kept very warm and clean the first few weeks of life. They should always be very close to their mother or wrapped in a blanket. Their environment should be from 85 to 95 degrees the first few weeks. The blanket must be kept clean so it doesn't give the puppy any type of infections.

    Warning

    • If a puppy is significantly losing weight or not gaining the proper amount of weight, this could be a serious problem that should be looked at immediately. Also, if the puppy is continuously whining, this should not be overlooked. If any of these symptoms occur, seek medical attention immediately.

    Benefits

    • Most dog trainers are willing to take puppies when they reach 12 weeks of age. This is very beneficial for both your family and the dog. The dog will learn obedience and right from wrong. Your family will be at ease having this adorable pet living in your home.
