Powerpoint Teaching Ideas
Microsoft PowerPoint has many valuable uses for the classroom. Whether adding a visual appeal to presentations or creating a game for others to play, teaching students ways to use PowerPoint will increase interest in daily classroom activities.
-
Basic Presentation
-
PowerPoint slide shows embellish almost any student presentation. Instruct students on how to outline their information in a PowerPoint presentation to add a visual aid.
Choose Your Path
-
Have students write stories with alternate endings. Input entire stories in PowerPoint frames, and make each ending its own slide. At the end of the story, provide links to let students choose their own ending.
-
Virtual Home Tour
-
Have students take photos throughout their homes; then, input the pictures into PowerPoint, adding links throughout, so students can navigate the home in slide show mode.
Flip Book
-
Allow students to take a series of stop motion digital photographs. Upload the photos to a slide show, and let the students flip through them in slide show mode. As they click, they will marvel at the animation they created.
Silent Movie
-
Provide a script for students to act out in short clips. Input each clip with no sound on a separate slide; in between silent slides, place slides with text for dialogue. In slide show mode, the presentation will then resemble a silent movie.
Memory Book
-
Throughout the year, take photos of memorable classroom moments; at the end of the year, create a slide show to help the class look back on the year's events.
