Life Savers were invented in 1912; the company was bought by Kraft in 2000 and by Wrigley in 2004. There are more than 40 flavors of Life Savers in addition to Life Savers Gummies and Creme Savers. A variety of crafts can be made using this candy.
Glue a Styrofoam ball (the bunny's head) to one roll of Life Savers (the body). Next, bend two white pipe cleaners in half, shape them like bunny ears and stick them into the ball. Glue on wiggly eyes, then a small pink pom-pom for the nose and white pom-poms for the legs and the tail.
Make edible bracelets, anklets or necklaces by simply threading Life Savers candy pieces onto a piece of elastic. When the desired number of pieces are threaded on the elastic, tie the two ends together and wear.
To make a Life Savers candy train, use a hot glue gun to glue a package of gum to one side of a Life Savers candy roll. Then glue peppermint pieces to the gum package to represent wheels. Next, glue a caramel onto the top of the Life Savers roll on one end to represent the cab and glue a mini bar of chocolate onto the caramel. For the funnel, glue an upside-down Hershey's Kiss between the cab and the front of the train.
Create a Life Savers rainbow flower by taping different-colored Life Savers to a straw using double-sided tape. Make seven of these straws using the same pattern of colors. Place floral foam in a small pot and stick the straws into the foam arranged to look like a rainbow. Decorate the pot with markers or stickers if desired.
To make a Life Savers pacifier, glue a jelly bean to the center of a Life Saver. To the center of the opposite side, glue the edge of another Life Saver. Next, take a ribbon that is long enough to be worn around the neck and thread it through the center of the Life Saver that still has an open middle. Then tie the ends of the ribbon together.
