When to Announce a Pregnancy
The proper time to announce your pregnancy will depend in large part on what you feel comfortable with. Because of risks of false-positive pregnancy tests and early miscarriages, you should wait until you have confirmed the pregnancy, addressed any concerns with your doctor and absorbed the information before telling most friends and family members.

Telling the Father-To-Be
-
Ideally, the father to be should be one of the first people you tell. Plan to tell him when the two of you are alone. Allow the father-to-be time to absorb the information, especially if the pregnancy was unplanned.
Telling Close Friends
-
Tell friends or family members you are close to about the pregnancy as a means of talking about any early-pregnancy concerns you have. Because the odds of miscarriage are much higher in the first trimester, these would ideally be people who could shoulder the burden with you if you were to miscarry or have an otherwise difficult pregnancy.

Telling the Parents
-
Wait to tell your parents and in-laws until after the first trimester is over at 14 weeks. A holiday or other family event might provide a good opportunity.
Telling Your Boss
-
According to life.familyeducation.com, you should tell your boss in the second trimester, after the pregnancy is solidified but before you have started to show.
Telling Strangers
-
It's unlikely you will have to mention your pregnancy to strangers until you are in your third trimester and showing. Before that, you might get awkward looks from people too afraid to ask if you are expecting or simply overweight.
