Types of Resume Formats
Learning to compose a good resume is crucial to job seekers and forms the first impressions of potential employers. There are three basic types of resumes: chronological, functional and combination. Choosing the right resume format can be the key to securing that job you have always wished for.

Chronological Resume
Functional Resume
Combination Resume
-
A combination resume combines the chronological and functional formats. The combination resume typically starts with a career synopsis that outlines your objective, volunteer work and special skills or accomplishments. The career synopsis is followed by work experience related to the job for which you are applying.
Considerations
-
The chronological resume may be right for you if you have an extensive job history. The functional resume is best for people who have little to no job history, such as recent college graduates. The combination resume may be your best option when applying for a specific job.
Tips
-
Choose your resume format by reflecting on your vocational and educational strengths and weaknesses. Compose the resume to highlight your strengths. In addition, it is important to proofread your resume to avoid spelling and grammar mistakes. Limit the length of your resume to one or two pages. Resume fonts should be Serif or Sans-Serif fonts, such as Arial or Times New Roman, and no smaller than 11pt or larger than 12pt.
