The White Grapefruit Juice Diet

The White Grapefruit diet is a well known fad diet that dates back to the 1930s. The diet is based on the premise that grapefruit, when eaten with protein, can trigger fat burning that results in weight loss.

    Function

  1. Most versions of this diet promise a 10-pound weigh loss in a 12-day span.
  2. Significance

  3. The diet promotes fast weight loss. Unfortunately, most of this weight loss is caused by a loss of fluids, which will return when you go off the diet.
  4. History

  5. The foundation of the Atkins Diet may be based on the White Grapefruit Diet. Both diets are based on low calorie, low carbohydrate and high protein principles.
  6. Identification

  7. To properly utilize the diet, you should stay on it for 12 days. Then, if you wish to continue the diet, you are supposed to take a two-day break before continuing for another 12 days.
  8. Warning

  9. In order to stay hydrated, you must drink 64 ounces of water each day.

  11. You should not stay on the White Grapefruit Diet for an extended period of time because it is not nutritionally balanced, according to the Mayo Clinic.
