Basketball Activities for PE

There are a wide variety of different basketball games that anyone can play during physical education classes. They include: pickup matches, Around the World, Horse, and 21, to name a few. These are all easy to learn and master and can be played by those with a variety of skill levels.

Pickup Matches

These matches can be one on one, or up to five on five. Played just like a normal game of basketball, pickup games can either be played at full or half court.

Around the World

This game consists of points around the hoop. Each player gets one shot per turn and moves on to the next point once the shot at that point has been made.

Horse

One player challenges others by attempting a shot anywhere on the court. If they make the shot, the other players must make the same shot at risk of adding a letter from the word HORSE to their tally.

21

Every man for themselves in this battle to be the first to score 21 points. Each person can lose all points or be knocked out by a tip shot.

Benefits

Each of these games have a wide range of intensity. Basketball is a nonstop sport, but games like "Around the World" provide a slower pace for novices, while "21" is best for experts.
