Mirrors in Feng Shui Decorating
Mirrors are a traditional feng shui cure used to enhance energy, or chi, in a room, or reflect bad chi (or sha) away. They can make a room appear larger, balance an asymmetrical space and activate stagnant energy. Does this Spark an idea?

Missing Areas
-
If your home is not square or rectangular, it is thought to be missing a part of the bagua, or life situation. Each section of the bagua corresponds to a life situation, such as career, health or knowledge. If you are missing an area, such as the knowledge section, hang a framed mirror on the inside wall of that area to draw chi back into that missing area of your life.
Asymmetrical Areas
-
If there is a slanted wall in a room, you can add a mirror on this wall to balance out the space.
-
Stagnant Areas
-
To energize dark or stagnant areas, such as an alcove, hang a mirror in this area to draw chi back into it, creating a lighter atmosphere.
Bedrooms & Baths
-
Mirrors should not be used in bedrooms, as they are too energizing. If you have to have a mirror here, make sure it's on the inside of a closet door or covered up at night with a piece of fabric. To keep chi from escaping down the toilet along with your money, place a mirror on the outside of the bathroom door and keep the door closed at all times.
Sharp Corners
-
Sharp corners can be alleviated by placing a mirror on each side, thereby softening the sharp corners, which are considered bad chi or sha.
