Jobs Related to Economics

Economics is the study of the use of resources, such as labor, money, land and other natural resources. The field of economics is broad, and many jobs across a number of different industries relate to this social science.

Microeconomists

Microeconomists focus on relationships between supply and demand as well as problems that arise from these relationships. They often work for businesses that sell products and services, helping to make decisions about prices or production levels.

Industrial Economists

Industrial economists study corporations and businesses involved in a given industry, paying attention to trends and strategies that these organizations employ. They advise investment firms, study monopolies for the government and law firms and work directly for companies.

Macroeconomists

Macroeconomists are interested in the history of financial and economic systems as well as patterns that occur over time. They often work for government organizations like the Federal Reserve and for banks.

Labor Economists

Labor economists study wages and benefits for employees in a given geographic area or job type. Labor economists often work for government agencies like the Bureau of Labor Statistics as well as private research organizations and media outlets.

International Economists

International economists study world markets and the state of economies in other countries. They often work for international trade organizations or financial lenders, such as the World Bank.
