- Card stock, specialty, vellum and print papers are used for scrapbooking and greeting card crafting. Single sheets and multiple-sheet packs of archival paper are sold at craft, scrapbook and discount stores.
- Rubber stamps, light boxes, embossers, paper cutters, die-cutting machines and paper punch tools work well for paper crafts. In general, a single large rubber-stamped image or die-cut is used to decorate a card, while smaller images fit well in a scrapbooking page layout.
- Stencils that are colored in with chalks, pencils or pens can be used to embellish scrapbook layouts and handmade greeting cards. One detailed stencil will highlight the front of a greeting card, and small decorative stencils can be used to make borders or embellishments on a scrapbook layout.
- Sticker letters and characters work well for titles and embellishments on scrapbook page layouts. A card maker must plan and rearrange stickers to create the best look before permanently affixing them to the paper.
- Pop dots, mono-adhesive, photo corners and sticker adhesives are used for card making and scrapbooks. It is important that adhesives are archival quality (acid-free) when used in scrapbooks.
- Embossing, paper folding, paper piercing, stamping and pieced paper images are all used in card making and scrapbooking. In card making, it's likely just one of these embellishments will be adhered to the outside of a card, while a series of them can be attached to a single scrapbook layout.
