What to Build a Model Castle Out Of
Modelers and school students are at times met with the challenge of finding materials to make model castles for their projects. These materials can be found in a large variety of mediums.

Kitbash and Conversion

A modeler can take parts and pieces of plastic model kits to form components for a castle, a craft that is called kitbashing. Pieces from forts, ships and rocket tubes will work to make the walls, drawbridge and turrets of a castle.
School Projects

A school student can make a castle from craft sticks, cardboard boxes and tubes. Construct the walls with craft sticks glued together with a cardboard drawbridge and paper towel tube turrets.

Floral Supplies

Carve pieces of craft foam to form the shape of a castle, and use toothpicks to fuse separate pieces together with foam-friendly adhesive. Spray paint the foam with craft paint, such as Design Master, to create the effect of stonework.
Clay or Papier Mache

Shape the parts of the castle from clay or papier mache material on a piece of plywood and paint the model to make it look more realistic. Use papier mache to mold a moat, hillsides and landscaping to which you can add trees and bushes.
Toy Bricks

You can build a detailed castle with toy bricks that are found in department and toy stores. Draw a plan to follow and build the walls, towers and interior rooms with the bricks.
Foam Core Board or Card Stock

Cut out pieces of foam core or card stock to tape or glue together to form square and rectangular portions of a castle. Add foam, cardboard or plastic tubes for the turrets.
