Kitten Care Information

Kittens can be a great addition to a household, and with good nutrition and exercise, they can live long healthy lives.

  1. Supplies

    • Before bringing a new kitten home, shop for the following supplies: food and water bowls, a litter box and litter, and toys.

    Food

    • When buying food for your kitten, be sure to purchase food made specifically for kittens. If they are younger than 8 weeks, use wet food or dry food moistened with water.

    Health

    • Kittens should visit the veterinarian for a check up and to receive their vaccinations within their first 8 to 10 weeks of age for good health.

    Grooming

    • Kittens are usually able to clean themselves, but if they absolutely need a bath, use warm water, mild soap, and wear a long-sleeve shirt to avoid scratches.

    Play Time

    • Kittens are very playful and will need toys to keep themselves entertained, such as small balls or toys with feathers.
