Treatments for Eye Puffiness

If excessive crying or lack of sleep has left your eyes red and puffy, there are some things you can do at home to help reduce eye puffiness. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Cool Cucumbers

    • Place two slices of cucumbers in the refrigerator for an hour to cool them. Lay down and place these cucumbers on your eyelids and let them sit for a half hour before removing them. This will reduce water retention, making eyes look fresh.

    Tea Bags

    • Moisten two chamomile tea bags with cold water and then place on eyelids. Let them sit for about 10 minutes before removing them.

    Rose Water

    • You can use two cotton balls soaked in rose water to help reduce eye puffiness. Soak the cotton balls in rose water, place on eyelids and let sit for about 15 minutes before removing. To make rose water, place a handful of rose petals in a jar and fill it with boiling water, and let it stand overnight. Then mix 1 cup rose water with2 tablespoons glycerin and five to 10 drops of essential oil.

    Cold Water Rinse

    • Rinsing eyes with cold water for about two to three minutes will help refresh them.

    Limit Salt Intake

    • To permanently reduce under-eye puffiness, reduce your salt intake. Salt retains liquid that is stored in the tissue around the eyes, and excess liquid leads to increased puffiness. Drink plenty of water every day to help flush out salt and check the sodium levels on the food you plan to eat.
