Side Effects of Letrozole

Letrozole is a drug used in the treatment of breast cancer in postmenopausal females. Femara is the brand name of letrozole. Users of letrozole can experience a variety of side effects.

  1. Respiratory System

    • Respiratory side effects are coughing and shortness of breath.

    Central Nervous System

    • The use of letrozole can commonly cause lethargy or headaches. It can also cause dizziness, somnolence, anxiety or depression, night sweats or hot flashes.

    Bones and Muscles

    • Side effects of letrazole include joint pain, arthritis, osteoporosis, bone fracture or muscle pain.

    Skin

    • Users of letrazole may develop rashes, alopecia or sweating. It is more common to experience pruritus, which is itching.

    Cardiovascular System

    • Serious cardiovascular side effects are myocardial infarction, angina, stroke or thromboembolic events. Other side effects are peripheral edema and hypertension.

    Genitourinary System

    • Possible side effects of letrazole are vaginal bleeding, endometrial cancer and endometrial proliferation disorders. These can be life threatening.
