Massage Therapist License Requirements in New Jersey

In New Jersey, massage therapists are certified by the Massage, Bodywork and Somatic Therapy Examining Committee. Therapists must renew their certifications every two years.

CPR

Therapists must have and maintain a current cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Anatomy and Physiology

Therapists must log 100 hours of coursework in anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology.

Ethics

Therapists must log eight hours of coursework in ethics and law, and submit two affidavits of good moral character.

Theory and Practice

Therapists must log 225 hours of coursework in the theory and practice of their field.

Supervised Practice

Therapists must log 100 hours of supervised clinical practice.

Electives

Therapists must log 70 hours of elective courses related to bodywork.
