Lovenox injections are used to treat blood clots, after surgery to prevent clotting, and as a blood thinner. The potential for side effects exists, and any that you notice should be reported to your doctor. This medication should be used as directed, and monitored closely.

    Injection Site

  1. Since there are potential side effects at the injection site, it is wise to inject in a different area for each dose. Some of the side effects reported are skin irritation, pain and redness.
  2. Digestive

  3. Some people have reported digestive problems when using Lovenox shots, including nausea and changes in the color of stools.
  4. Blood

  5. There have been reports of easier bruising and bleeding among some people using Lovenox shots.
  6. Swelling

  7. Lovenox shots may cause the side effect of swelling in the hands and feet.
  8. Allergic Reactions

  9. There is the potential for some people to have allergic reactions as side effects. Symptoms of this type of reaction include skin rash, hives, itch, swelling, feeling dizzy and having problems breathing, which may be wheezing, tightness or feeling short of breath.
