Casino Pit Boss Job Description

If you love people and gambling, the good job for you can be found on the winning side of gambling, working as a pit boss. The job requires that you know the games and have a license to work.

  1. Watches the Game

    • The pit boss makes certain that the game runs smoothly. If there is a question about play, he over sees the solution. For example, if a dealer accidentally removes chips from a winning player, the pit boss watches over the correction of the error.

    Cash Drops and Chips

    • When the table accounting begins, the pit boss is on hand to count chips. She also is there when cash is removed from the table or new chips are brought in.

    Disputes

    • If a client disagrees with the actions of a dealer, the pit boss settles the argument. Sometimes she calls for the video of the situation to solve the problem.

    Organization

    • The pit boss schedules staff meals and breaks and does the input of data into the computer for the hourly reports. He creates the work schedules.

    Supervision

    • The pit boss is the supervisor over the dealers. She makes appraisals of their work, disciplines those who break rules and does on-the-job training for new employees. He also makes certain that staff follows gaming and safety laws.

    Ambassador

    • The pit boss maintains a pleasant gambling environment by removing guests that harass or cheat. Diplomacy is necessary for a pit boss.
