For some, the ideal work situation is the opportunity to perform their job from home. Telecommuting can involve working for a company from the home office or working as an independent contractor for a company. Working from home takes discipline and dedication. There are many types of telecommuting jobs.

  1. Customer service

    • Customer service jobs can be performed for companies running informercials to airlines needing reservation associates. The same customer service skills apply at home as they do at an office.

    Sales

    • Real estate agents to IT resellers work from home. If the agent does not work on commission, they are often given sales goals to achieve.

    Project management

    • Companies need project managers to guide a project successfully from conception to implementation.

    Computer programmer

    • A computer programmer can often work from home. He is given the assignment or task that must be completed and has sole responsibility for completing it.

    Virtual assistant

    • Large and small companies use virtual assistants to handle routine administrative tasks. They perform tasks such as scheduling travel, meetings, correspondence, etc.
