Job Description of a Motivational Speaker

A motivational speaker will perform a variety of duties and responsibilities. They will visit schools, churches, companies, organizations, social clubs, college and universities, and deliver speeches and talks. They motivate and inspire people.

  1. Presentations/Seminars

    • A motivational speaker will present at seminars and workshops. They help people set goals and objectives in all six areas of life, including mental, physical, spiritual, social, career and financial. They encourage people to fulfill their dreams.

    Products

    • As a speaker you may sell products, including books, CDs, DVDs, tapes and other learning material at the end of a seminar or workshop.

    Coach/Mentor

    • There are some speakers who serve as a coach or mentor to certain individuals. They help people reach and surpass their goals.

    Clubs/Organizations

    • Motivational speakers join clubs and organizations such as Toastmasters to sharpen and hone their skills. They continue to attend other seminars and workshops so that they can continue learning.

    Master of Ceremony

    • Some speakers will serve as a master of ceremony for another speaker's event.

    Keynote Speech

    • A motivational speaker is responsible for practicing consistently. They have to develop and create a keynote speech to deliver in a variety of venues.
