Recipe Organization Ideas

Organizing your recipes can be done in many creative ways. You can choose to have your recipes organized so you can find the recipe you want quickly. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Alphabetical Order

    • Arrange each recipe in alphabetical order whether it be on index cards, in a binder or on a computer. This will allow you to find a recipe quickly if you can remember the name of the dish you are looking for.

    Categorize

    • You can categorize your recipes by the type of dish such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and snacks. You could go deeper and categorize each dish within a category. If you have a dessert category, you can have cakes, pies, cookies and bars in their own categories.

    Nutrition

    • You can organize your recipes based on their nutritional value such as recipes that are sugar-free, low-calorie, vegetarian, high in fiber and fat free.

    Time

    • Recipes can also be organized based on how much time it takes to prepare the dish. Recipes that take the shortest time can be first, followed by recipes that take more time to make.

    Ingredients

    • Similar to organizing by time, you can organize your recipes by the amount of ingredients you will need to use. Recipes that require fewer ingredients can be first, followed by long recipes that require many ingredients last.
