Groomsman Etiquette
Acting as a Groomsman for a loved one's wedding is an honor and a privilege. With the acceptance of this honor comes a list of etiquette and responsibilities necessary to make the wedding and its preceding parties and reception a success.

Offer Support

Groomsmen are expected to offer moral support to the groom. Assisting the groom with the writing of vows or the selection of the right outfit for the wedding fall into this category along with acting as a lay psychologist to listen to any concerns he has over the impending marriage.
Pre-Party Planning

Bachelor, engagement and rehearsal party planning are included in a groomsman's duties, as is ensuring the groom's arrival at these events.

Proper Attire

Groomsmen are expected to pay for their own wedding attire. Input into the selection of the garments is expected and fittings for and the pick-up of the tuxedo or suit and shoes is necessary.
Ushers

On the day of the wedding, groomsmen usher guests to the appropriate seats. Giving directions to the wedding reception or the restroom may also be expected of you from the guests.
Toasts

Toasting the bride and groom during the reception is traditionally expected from the groomsmen. Preparing a toast ahead of time ensures its proper delivery, and planning with other members of the bridal party will guarantee that toasts are not repetitive.
