High-Voltage Battery

The high-voltage batteries required by hybrid cars can be dangerous during an accident if the battery wires become exposed.

Lightweight Vehicle

Because the hybrid car is lightweight compared to non-hybrid vehicles, it may not be as safe during an accident.

Slow Acceleration

Hybrid cars have slower acceleration than standard vehicles, which can be a problem when people need to reach full speed quickly, such as when merging onto busy highways.
