Five Myths Associated With Diet & Exercise

Diet and exercise myths can hinder or hurt people in their quest to live a healthier lifestyle. Proper education or professional assistance are two options to combat the following myths.

  1. No Carbohydrates

    • Several popular diets say that you should eat little or no carbs at all. Unfortunately, this myth over time can lead to serious health risks, such as breathing impairments or loss of consciousness. Also, a lack of carbs will decrease endurance output.

    1,000 Crunches

    • Some people think that doing thousands of crunches a day will get rid of your belly or gut. Sadly, the energy and focus is misplaced. People should eat a healthier diet and do more cardio to reduce the stomach fat and body fat as a whole.

    Diet Soda

    • Diet soda is not a healthy option to drinking soda. Diet sodas contain too many empty calories, sugars and other artificial ingredients. Switch to water or fruit juices.

    Same Workouts

    • In time, your body will cease making any progress and could possibly regress, if you do the same workouts every day. A sensible and progressive exercise plan is needed to stimulate the body.

    Taking Supplements

    • Taking supplements is not the answer to a healthier diet. A balanced and nutritious diet, based on the food pyramid, is the healthiest option.
