Kennedy Space Center Activities

Activities at Kennedy Space Center can fill a whole day. To see everything included in the admission price, plan on arriving when the center opens at 9 a.m. The Visitor Complex closes at 7 p.m., but the Astronaut Hall of Fame is open until 8 p.m., so plan your activities accordingly. Also keep in mind that the two-hour bus tour starts at 10 a.m. and runs in 15 minute increments. The last bus tour is at 3:45 p.m. The bus tour and all Visitor Complex activities are included with the general admission price.

  1. Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour

    • Climb aboard one of the air conditioned buses for a tour of the launch facilities. You will get to see the processing facility for the International Space Station and go inside a full scale model of the astronauts' living quarters on the ISS. You can also check out a 360 degree view of the shuttle launch pads, find out what it takes to launch and return and learn about the origin of the shuttle program.

    Visitor Complex

    • See an IMAX movie about the original moon landing or the history of the space program. Tour the Rocket Garden to see life-size models of all the different rockets and enter space capsules to see how the astronauts traveled to the moon. Experience a space shuttle launch at Space Shuttle Plaza, which houses a life-size replica of the shuttle and all its components. You can visit the Hubble Telescope Exhibit for a breathtaking view of the universe or pay your respects at the Astronaut Memorial. The Astronaut Hall Of Fame contains interactive activities, artifacts and memorabilia dedicated to the accomplishments of the astronauts.

    Dining

    • If you are hungry or thirsty, there are plenty of options around the complex for grabbing a sandwich, a cold drink or some futuristic ice cream. You can also lunch with an astronaut for an additional fee. There are full- and self-service restaurant options for dining.

    Special Programs

    • The Space Center also provides a summer camp for children, guided tours of special areas of the complex and an astronaut training simulator. These special programs are not included with general admission.

    Wildlife Refuge

    • Kennedy Space Center is located on a 140,000-acre wildlife refuge where you can observe Florida plants and wildlife in their natural habitat. You can find an exhibit about the refuge in the Visitor Complex. If you would like to enjoy the refuge and all its offerings, adding an additional day at the Space Center to your schedule is recommended.
