Types of Halogen Bulbs

Halogen light bulbs are specialized bulbs that utilize heat to evaporate the filament inside the bulb into the halogen gas that fills the glass, resulting in light. There are many types of halogen bulbs available for home and business use. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Bipins

      Halogen bipin bulbs feature two metal prongs at the base, which slide into slots on specialized lights such as desk lamps, task lighting and appliances.

      MB halogen bulbs feature screw-in bases and are available in wattages from 42 to 150. MD Halogen bulbs function to replace traditional incandescent household bulbs for lighting fixtures and lamps.

    Reflector Floods

    • Reflector flood halogen bulbs are nearly flat across the top, and are available in three sizes and a variety of wattage. For outdoor usage, reflector flood halogen bulbs replace outdoor floodlights used for illumination and security.

    PAR14 and 16

    • PAR14 and 16 halogen bulbs are appropriate for use in display or trophy cases and curio cabinets. The PAR 14 measures 1.75 inches across its flattened top, while the PAR 16 measures 2 inches.

    PAR 20

    • PAR 20 halogen light bulbs are appropriate for track or recess lighting. They measure 2 1/2 inches across the top and are available in many colors as well, as in spot and flood versions.

    PAR 38

    • PAR 38 halogen bulbs are similar in shape to the PAR 20, but they are larger at 4 3/4 inches. PAR 38 halogen bulbs are popular in retail and commercial environments.
