Producers, directors, graphics experts, camera people and editors work as a creative team to produce a television show. Getting a job in the television production industry requires special skills learned at a technical or four-year college and then on the job. People pursuing careers in this field spend several years in entry-level positions and work their way up.

Television Producer

The producer is responsible for the show's content and manages writers, researchers, budget and cast. Types of producers include the executive producer, who is in charge of the entire show and crew; the line producer, who manages a live show; and the field producer, who creates a show segment on location.
