Tattoo prices vary, as do the costs to have them removed. Laser removal is the most common method, but creams and other products can also remove tattoos. Before choosing the best method for you, compare the prices of each procedure.

    Types

  1. Laser removal ranges from $200 to $500 per session, and typically 5 to 20 sessions are recommended.

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) requires fewer sessions but usually costs around $10 per pulse.

At-home creams are not usually medically proven to work and can cost as much as $100 per bottle.
  2. Features

  3. Laser removal uses a laser to break up pigmentation, which is then absorbed into the body.

IPL is a high-intensity light that works much like the laser, but it is more effective and less painful.

At-home creams lighten the tattoo over a period of weeks or months but can cause irritation and may not work.
  4. Time Frame

  5. Laser and IPL sessions each take only a few minutes but should be completed over an interval of 6 to 12 weeks.
  6. Identification

  7. The overall time for complete removal depends on the size and location of the tattoo. Some colors are harder to remove than others.
  8. Considerations

  9. It is best to find a dermatological surgeon to perform any laser procedures.
