What to Use to Decorate a Car for a Wedding

A longstanding tradition for friends of the bride and groom is to decorate the wedding car. The bride and groom might give suggestions on what decorations to use or what to avoid.

  1. Chalk

    • Liquid chalk or window markers can be bought at local craft stores. Phrases such as "Just Married" can be written on the windows. Be sure the driver can safely see out of all windows.

    Magnets

    • Local craft or wedding stores will also have magnets. These are typically heart-shaped or say the phrase "Just Married!" on them, and will cling to the car.

    Balloons

    • Another way to decorate the wedding car is to blow up balloons and tie them to mirrors. They can be taped on, although be aware the tape can rip paint off the car.

    Cans

    • Traditionally, empty soda cans are tied to the bumper with string. Make sure the string is sturdy so the cans do not fall off and cause an accident.

    Streamers

    • Another good way is to tape streamers or crepe paper decorations onto the car. Again, avoid taping directly to the car paint.
