Navy Boot Camp Information

The Navy boot camp is essential for transforming new civilian recruits into United States Navy sailors who are capable of defending the nation at sea. The boot camp not only trains recruits physically, but also mentally by putting them through a rigorous and demanding training curriculum.

  1. Weeks 1 and 2

    • The first week mainly involves processing activities, such as issuing uniforms, learning about Navy regulations and participating in physical fitness activities. The second week contains a confidence building course that also emphasizes the importance of teamwork.

    Weeks 3 and 4

    • The third week takes place aboard a land bound training ship where recruits will learn the basics of shipboard living and other lessons while completing the first of two physical fitness tests. Recruits are taught how to fire weapons, a 12-gauge shotgun and a M-16 rifle, during the fourth week.

    Weeks 5 and 6

    • The fifth week involves personal planning for each recruit. Week six teaches recruits how to conduct shipboard fire fighting and damage control.

    Weeks 7 and 8

    • Simulations conducted during week seven involves using all the information used in previous weeks as a final test for recruits to pass. Graduation is conducted during week eight.
