Side effects of drugs are typically regarded by the Food and Drug Administration as an undesirable secondary effect that arises simultaneously to the primary therapeutic effect intended by the drug. Side effects can occur with any drug, whether they are prescription, over-the-counter or street drugs. More importantly, these side effects can be harmful and therefore a noticeable cause for concern.
