Microsoft Paint Alternatives

MS Paint is included with every version of Windows. It's a very basic program and is good for light image editing. But even for beginners, MS Paint can be very limiting.

  1. Gimp

    • Gimp is a simple alternative to Microsoft Paint. It's not a full-fledged image editor, but it is more than capable of simple edits and converting image types.

    Paint.net

    • Paint.net is a very intuitive image editor. It has a nice interface, layer support and special effects.

    Corel Draw Photopaint

    • Corel is a more advanced image editor. Some features include special effects, blends and pop-ups.

    Photofiltre

    • While not very feature-heavy, Photofiltre can get the job done if you're not looking for anything more than what Paint is capable of. There are plenty of plug-ins available, and the software is stable.

    Photoshop

    • The most common and popular image editing software is Photoshop. There is a learning curve, but beginners can do simple editing with little trouble.

    Paint Shop

    • Paint Shop is another advanced alternative. It has less of a learning curve than Photoshop, but it's equally as capable.
