Arabian Decorating Ideas
Minimalistic decor styles that use a muted color palette, such as Zen, do not suit everyone's taste. Homeowners who wish to create a space that emphasizes color and detail should consider an Arabian-inspired decor.

Color
-
Work with a color palette consisting of rich, deep shades of red, purple, emerald, tan and royal blue when selecting fabrics and paints for an Arabian-inspired decor.
Floor Decorations
-
Place several small pillows with different colors and patterns, on the floor at the corner of a room. Create an arrangement by leaning some against the wall and laying others flat on the floor, displaying it in combination with floor pots filled with artificial flowers or branches.
Amulets
-
Hang decorations featuring the evil eye (see "References" below) amulet, which is said to provide protection from negative energy, on walls and windows. While its origins can be traced back to Turkey, today the Evil Eye can be found in many Middle Eastern homes.
Seating Area
-
Create a common area for hosting guests and socializing by spreading a carpet across an open space. Place cushions along the walls against which guests can lean while sitting on the floor.
Hookah
-
Display a hookah, a water pipe for smoking flavored tobacco, on a shelving unit or in a display cabinet. Large hookahs are typically used for smoking, while smaller ones measuring about 12 in. or less are used as decorative pieces.
