Marshmallow root originated in Europe, but grows well in other areas, including the United States. It can be found in damp areas, such as marshes and low meadows. Marshmallow root has a variety of uses as an herbal remedy. Herbalists have used marshmallow root for centuries for everything from allergies to urinary tract issues. The roots and leaves of the plant hold the most nutritive and medicinal value. Marshmallow root contains a substance called mucilate that swells in water. The slippery gel soothes tissues in the mouth, throat and respiratory tract.

    Allergies/Bronchitis/Colds

  1. Marshmallow root soothes irritated tissues and helps to speed up the healing process. It reduces the buildup of mucus and aids in its breakdown so the body can eliminate it easily. It is these properties that help to alleviate symptoms caused by allergies, colds, and other upper respiratory issues.
