Badminton Racket Rules

Badminton is a sport played on a court similar to a tennis court. Players stand on either side of a net and volley a shuttlecock back and forth with rackets. The object of the game is to make the shuttlecock land in the opponent's side of the court.

  1. Racket Size

    • According to the International Federation of Badminton, a regulation racket cannot be more than 680 mm long and 230 mm wide.

    Racket Parts

    • The racket frame must consist of a handle, a shaft and a throat (if present) that is attached to the head that holds together the stringed area.

    Stringed Area

    • The stringed area must be flat and be made of strings that make up a crossing pattern. This pattern must be consistent throughout the entire stringed area.

    Size of Racket Head

    • The head of a badminton racket cannot be more than 280 mm long and 220 mm wide.

    Attachments

    • Nothing can be attached to the racket other than a cord used to attach to a player's hand.
